I am a Southern girl, so of course when a restaurant is called Southern Hands I am going to have to pay a visit and I am glad that I did!
The food is always good and I have tried many items on the menu from the Blackened Catfish, to the Fried Chicken, to the Smothered Pork Chops and I have enjoyed every bit of it.
The sides that they have to go along with the meal is great as well. I love the greens and the dressing mostly. Oh, and the cornbread that comes with every meal....AWESOME!
When you are in the Raleigh area, be sure to check them out. You will not be disappointed! -

The food is very delicious, I'm greedy so I wish the portions were a little more , the service is great and the atmosphere is good also. I do recommend this restaurant.

This Southern Hands restaurant has cut back on the portions served with their plates. Now charging an extra $0.25 for turnip greens! I hate to be overcharged. I do not recall seeing this upcharge listed on their menu. This is not a premium item. These mixed greens are rather regular tasting like they are mixed with semi frozen greens and canned greens hyped with a little meat. You run out of them because customers want a balanced meal. Seems like they are scared to cook enough to meet customer demand.
The food is ok-nothing special. Their Jiffy hyped cornbread is overrated. There is something wrong with their chicken n dressing. Weird texture to both. How do you mess up mutilated, baked chicken? Is it fake chicken or real chicken? The dressing tastes like clobs of seasoned flour.
I have stopped supporting their cheating efforts. I have advised my church members and everyone I see to stop shopping here as well. It would be so nice to be charged exactly what is advertised. Keep your customers updated or they will no longer be a customer at your place of cheat- I mean business. Extra Extra Extra! Read all about it!!!!!
Always read 'not recommended' reviews. They tell the hard truth and are very useful. -

Went for lunch today. Got there before it opened, so we were the first in line.
He ordered Meatloaf with mac and cheese and yams, and sweet tea.
I ordered wings with no sides.
Little one got mac and cheese.
Order took about 10 minutes since they make the wings to order.
I tasted some of the meatloaf and mac and cheese.
The wings were delicious. Spicy sauce with some sweetness. Super generous portion. I had plenty to take home after lunch. They got spicier as they sat and were quite warm when I finished them several hours later. You can get them plain, too, if you don't want the heat. They were not crispy, so if you like them that way be sure to request it.
Meatloaf was so good. Nice seasoning and good gravy/sauce on it. Cracker Barrel ought to take lessons from this place.
Mac and cheese was tasty. Not super-creamy, but good nonetheless.
I had a sip of the sweet tea. It is typical Memphis tea. Good flavor but SUPER sweet.
Friendly cashier. Very clean place. Would recommend to anyone liking this type of food.
